A FLAME STILL BURNING

"A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory..."

  • Matthew 12:20

What a fantastic verse for every person to remember when (WARNING: OVERUSE OF FUN CLICHES AHEAD!!!) "the going gets tough" and the loneliness of failure seems inevitable. We love the stories where truth and justice prevails and the unlikely hero emerges from whatever crucible the powers of evil put him through. The story of cross being best among them. This verse is so great in that it resonates so well in describing the human condition of our journey toward doing anything great or of any value to others. I would even dare to say, its perhaps the origin to some favorite clichés about perseverance and winning. From cliches like "snatching victory from the jaws of defeat" to "it ain't over till its over" "it is not done until the fat lady sings" I sure you can come up with some of your own.

Some of my favorite quotes about perseverance whenever you’re in need of some inspiration to keep going…

  1.  “It always seems impossible until it is done.” – Nelson Mandela

  2.  “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

  3.  “A bend in the road is not the end of the road… unless you fail to make the turn.” – Helen Keller

  4.  “It’s always too soon to quit!” – Norman Vincent Peale

  5.  “The only guarantee for failure is to stop trying.” – John C. Maxwell

  6.  “Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.” – Walter Elliot

  7.  “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas Edison

  8.  “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” – Henry Ford

  9.  “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” – Pele

  10.  “Fall seven times and stand up eight.” – Japanese Proverb

The same holds true for this thing called Fuel Life that started as an idea to get people fired up about walking in truth. later becoming a ministry of sharing resources with the less fortunate while promoting The Gospel of Jesus to becoming a home Bible study to a full blown church on a 10 acre property for almost 7 years...

...until the "Covid" thing happened. Everything changed. Not just at Fuel Life at many, places where people congregated. More on that will be said some other day, Rest assured.

Suffice to say that although the enemy may have done some damage, he did not not snuff out the flame.

...to be continued.
